GO MAVS!!!!!

GO DALLAS MAVERICKS!!!!! DIRK RULES!!!!

I'm a slacker I know.  Not enough time in the day.  New news, let's see, Jason is all excited about starting kindergarten.  We're not sure where the kids are going to school, but he's still excited.

In the gym world, Megan took first in the state on vault at her state meet.  She placed 6th on beam and floor and 3rd all around.  Not bad for being the baby of the team.  Now they're working on Level 6 skills and having a blast.  Of course, tragedy had to hit...story of our lives.  We lost one of our top Level 8's and one of Megan's idols to a car crash memorial weekend.  It's been rough.  Being a part of the gym family means we all know and look out for each other.  So, the loss of a child is a huge loss to all of us.

My step-son has graduated from high school.  It's funny the first time I spoke to him he was about 11 years old.  Funny how time flies.  It's odd to think he's old enough to graduate, but he is.  AND whether he realizes it or not, his dad and I are proud of him.

4 weeks from now we head to Florida and I can't wait.  We've been planning and saving for this trip for a year.  We're going to see Megan's best friend.  We're also going to stop along the way and visit Jason's godparents who are having their 3rd baby tomorrow morning.

I guess that's about it.  Nothing else major.  Life is life....we're relatively healthy, happy, and trudging along.

Ya know, if Jason had been a girl, I would've strapped on cement shoes and jumped into a very deep river.  He has decided he is going to create video games when he is older.  I can handle that.

The news of the day?  Megan doesn't want to quit gymnastics.  *dramatic eye rolling*  *bangs head into wall*  Does, doesn't, does, doesn't.  Good grief.  I can't wait until she's a teenager.  Anyhoo, we're three days into her third round of medicine (in one month) for strep throat.  She went into the gym today (for the first time in over a week) and did pretty good.  She had a bit of an issue conditioning, which was to be expected; but other than that, she did really well.

Phil and Jason came up to the gym to show me Jason's new haircut (which is outstanding) and Phil and I determined Megan should be sick more often!  She was doing a bunch of straight arm kips, her vaults were more outstanding than normal and her coach even commented that she did the best floor routine ever.

All in all it's been a good day.  I sat at the gym for 4 1/2 hours (I promised her I would) so I'm drained, but it was a good day.

Parenting stinks

Yes, I know she needs a break.  Did I mention that I had already told her she could have a week off in May, June, and July??  That was after our conversation a week ago.  She has not yet convinced me that she wants to continue.  Sure, she cries for all of 2 seconds when I say she's quitting, but then turns and goes into her room happy as a clam.  Megan is beautiful and talented and a baby still.  I get that.  I don't know what to do.  I'm busy mourning the loss of the talent and encouraging her to fnd herself.  She wants to play soccer.  That's fine.  She wants to dance....unfortunately in my calls today, I've not found any that aren't performance studios.

Thanks god Jason's a boy.

Nothing real exciting going on.  Crappy car died.  Paid large amounts of money to have it fixed.  Checking into buying a house.  Finalizing plans to go to Florida.  Have spent the past few days having long talks about whether or not Megan is going to quit gymnastics.  Apparently now that I've promised she can get her hair cut right after the state meet AND told her she can take off a week in June and July, gymnastics is cool again.  Good grief.

That's life in our house.

STILL ROCKIN!!

What a fabulous weekend!  Megan had another state qualifier this weekend.  It was at our rival gym which made it even better.  This proved to be her best meet yet with her posting two of her highest event scores and her highest all around.

8.4 on vault    8.675 on bars (new high score)  7.4 on beam (fell on the cartwheel) and 8.95 on floor (new high score) with her all around being an outstanding 33.425.  She qualified for silver state which is the weekend of May 6.  WAY TO GO BABY!!
